Kid’s Fishing Derby

Where: Jersey Meadow Nature Trail
When: Saturday, August 10th
9am-11am Angler Education
Taught by Fishing’s Future and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department
11am-3pm JV Kids/Youth Fishing Derby ($30, lunch and equipment provided)
Starting with lunch and rules
During event, coaching with Fishing’s Future & JV Parks and Rec. staff
Schedule:
Check in for Angler Education Course by 9am
Lessons include:
- Fish identification
- Fish habitat
- Fishing knots
- Setting up a simple fishing rig
- Safe fish handling
- Leave no trace fishing and the importance of conservation!
Lunch will be under the 40X40 tent at 11am, THEN….
Fishing until 3!
*we will provide cold water and shaded areas as necessary for comfort.
Costs:
Angler Education course is FREE
JV Kids/Youth Fishing Derby is $30/participant
Ages 16 and under allowed.
Age groups will compete for the heaviest fish and the largest fish!
LUNCH AND ALL EQUIPMENT IS PROVIDED FOR DERBY PARTICIPANTS!
Families are welcome to come cheer on their children, but we recommend you bring water, sunscreen, and shade!!
